Welcome to me! Thank you for stopping by so that I can introduce myself!
I grew up in Milford, CT, a beach town sandwiched between New Haven and Bridgeport. As a child, I spent much of my time choreographing dance routines to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, riding bikes with my sister and neighbors, and listening to my family tell masterful stories of their own. Even though I didn’t know it at the time, it’s clear to me now that writing has been in my bones since I was a child. In fifth grade, when given an assignment to write a short story, I filled up several notebooks with a novella named A Ghostly Move (which is still hidden away on a bookshelf in my parents’ house somewhere). In sixth grade, I wrote a short play that my classmates and I performed. As a young adult, I tried out jobs like most people try on shoes. The varied jobs I sampled include bank teller, research assistant, paralegal, tutor, and birthday party assistant. I majored in English in college, then attended law school, during which time I worked as a disability advocate. Though I continually wrote, I found myself missing literature and I returned to school to obtain a teaching certificate. While teaching middle school language arts for several years, I felt a longing to write again. After a move with my husband to Silicon Valley two years ago, I decided to finally pursue writing full-time. In addition to fiction, I’ve delved into playwriting and scriptwriting. Although writing can sometimes be seen as a solitary pursuit, I love working with other writers and creatives. Art isn’t created in a vacuum, as they say. I am the co-organizer of a group called Shut Up and Write in San Jose and a member of the Silicon Valley Writers Group. I have been lucky enough to find an amazing collective of creatives in the San Jose Digital Filmmaking Network. Through this network I wrote and pitched a short film, entitled Resolutions, which will be produced this fall by Emerging Artist Productions. In addition to short film, I’m currently focusing my time on revising two novels. The first, Infinity of Colors, is an upper middle grade contemporary novel which tells the coming-of-age story of a twelve-year-old girl who discovers that she is surrounded by a world of secrets. The second novel, All Through the Town, is set in an urban high school and follows the lives of two students and one teacher whose narratives interweave as they each search for redemption. You can find a brief synopsis of each work on the novel page. I live in Sunnyvale, CA with my husband (whom I incidentally met in a writing group). When I’m not writing, you can find me watching The Office, at the movies, hiking, or at the beach, during all of which I enjoy listening to my husband’s impromptu a cappella stylings. Thank you for visiting my page! I’d love to hear from you! |
